California Senate Bill 94 will help foster youth access Cal Grants till they are up to 26 years old instead of just one year out of high school.  Senator Jim Beall (D) hopes this will assist in ensuring foster youth are able to successfully complete college.

California nonprofit LA Kitchen provides a free referral based job training program, Empower LA. This program is for transition age foster-youth and formerly incarcerated and homeless people to be trained in food preparation and readied for the workforce.

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin signed a bill creating a foster child bill of rights.  This House Bill 2552 ensures that foster children and parents will be receiving a statement of the bill of rights each year. It will take effect November 1, 2018.
