Missouri Senate Bill 819 should improve foster care by establishing a grant program that makes money available to meet critical state concerns like allowing minors in foster care to set up bank accounts as well as other areas of foster care law. Governor Eric Greitens and first lady Sheena Greitens are both strong advocates of foster care improvement. 

National - An overview of the adoption tax benefits published on March 13, 2018, by the Congressional Research Service.

National - Professionalizing foster care should be considered by child welfare leaders as a means to provide higher standards and training for professional foster parents. There are examples of successful programs in Florida, Illinois and Oklahoma where professionalized foster homes are larger and house up to six children.
