Colorado House Bill 1319 was signed into law by Governor John Hickenlooper on Friday. This bill will allow counties to spend child welfare money on youth in foster care who are aged 18-21, to provide support for services like assistance with an apartment of college.

Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services is launching a new foster parent campaign called the Quality Parenting Initiative.  This approach focuses on teamwork among foster parents, agency and birth parents to provide children with quality parenting.

Pennsylvania's capital city, Philadelphia is being sued by Catholic Social Services. The Archdiocese is accusing the cit of religious discrimination for suspending its foster care placements because of their refusal to place children with same-sex couples.  The city has suspended contracts and launched a Human Relations Commissions investigation
