Alaska Legislature has passed House Bill 151 which will improve the foster care system by establishing new training and workload standards for caseworkers in the Office of Children Services. Representatives Les Gara (D-Anchorage) has sponsored this legislation to implement smart policy changes and investing resources to make a long-lasting change for the youth in foster care.

Kansas Senate Bill 284 is being signed by Governor Colyer. This bill aims to ensure faith-based adoption groups are not discriminated against, but the LGBT community is concerned that it will lead to further discrimination.

Oklahoma Governor May Fallin has signed Senate Bill 1140, this protects child-placing agencies who block adoptive parents who do not meet religious or moral standards.  Governor Fallin stated the bill does not restrict LGBTQ families but will continue improving the placement of children.
